Ready To Start Day One!

On The Ground

We have landed safely in Kilimanjaro and were greeted at the airport by a large welcoming committee which included many pastors and even a Maasaii choir! Other arriving passengers must have been wondering what group of celebrities require such fanfare!

The night is clear and cool, good sleeping weather!  I am posting from my phone while bouncing down the road so I'll add some pictures tomorrow (which will be your today)

ALMOST Everyone Made It!

Well, it's always something on these trips. As we push back from the gate in Amsterdam for the final 9 hour flight, we do so with two of our group members waving goodbye from inside the airport.

Due to a booking glitch, John and Carol were not able to check their bags all the way through to Kilimanjaro. Their connection from Philly ended up being too tight to allow enough time to retrieve their bags here in Amsterdam and recheck them on this flight.

So...our group will not be at full strength until tomorrow night. It's always something!

Almost Time To Go!

The time draws near for the 18 brave 2014 Vision Trippers to get packed up and ready to go. We will travel great distances in giant flying machines to visit people who, in some cases, have never ridden in a car or on a bicycle for that matter.  Our lives will be changed by these encounters more than theirs, since such a journey changes your perspective.

But before all that, we must relinquish a day of our lives to getting there.  We leave on Thursday morning, June 12 but will not step out onto the tarmac under the dark African sky until Friday night June 13!

So, keep us in your prayers and pray for those we will visit.  Old friends and strangers we will meet along the way.  We will worship with people living lives so unlike our own that we may as well be different species.  God intends to teach us something new about the world and our place in it during this Vision Trip to Tanzania.  What will that be?

Off we go to find out!

Follow the adventure by checking this blog often once the trip begins (June 13-25). You can also enter your email address in the window just below the picture above to receive blog entries as they are posted.
